Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 20, 2026
Albatross is a personality-typology social network. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it in plain language.
Information we collect
When you sign in with Google. We use Google Sign-In to create your account. With your
permission, Google shares your name, email address, profile picture, and Google account ID (the openid email profile scopes). We do not receive your Google password.
Profile information you provide. A username and display name, and anything else you choose to add — bio, avatar and banner images, a signature trait, links, and an infobox of details you enter yourself (for example location or pronouns).
Content you create. The personality types you set, the assessments and analyses you write about fictional characters and about other members (including your written reasoning), comments, community posts, collections, kinlists, follows, and “Useful” reactions.
Images you upload. Avatar and banner images are stored with an object-storage provider on our behalf.
Technical information. To keep you signed in we store a single essential cookie (auth_token), which is HTTP-only and expires after about 7 days. Our servers also keep standard logs (such
as IP address and browser type) for security and to operate the service.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To display your profile and the content you post.
- To run community features — analyses, comments, follows, notifications, and consensus.
- To moderate the community and enforce our Terms.
- To maintain, debug, and improve the service.
What other people can see
Albatross is a social, public-by-default platform. Your username, display name, avatar, banner, personality types, analyses, comments, and collections are generally visible to other people. Analyses you write about another member appear on that member’s profile.
You control some of this in your settings:
- Community Consensus voting on your profile is off until you opt in.
- You can restrict voting/assessment of you to people you follow.
- You can restrict your full typology (and pinned type pills) to people you follow.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run Albatross, namely:
- Google — for sign-in.
- Our hosting and object-storage providers — to run the service and store uploaded images.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Albatross, our users, or the public.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to remove your data, we delete it, except where we must keep some records to comply with the law or resolve disputes.
Your choices and rights
- Access and update — view and edit your profile and content at any time in your settings.
- Privacy controls — use the consensus and following-only settings described above.
- Deletion — delete your content, or contact us to delete your account and associated data.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data. Contact us to exercise them.
Children
Albatross is not intended for anyone under 13, and you must meet the minimum age required in your country to use it. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above.
